Beneficiary Designations

What if I want to designate or change a beneficiary prior to retirement?

If you are married, your spouse is automatically designated as your beneficiary unless your spouse agrees in writing to change it to another person. If you are single, your estate is your designated beneficiary unless you choose otherwise. To designate or change a beneficiary of your benefit prior to actual retirement, contact a representative in Human Resources for a Beneficiary Designation Form (RP-20).

Do my beneficiaries have to be the same under the Pension Plan and Retirement Savings Plan?

No, you may have different beneficiaries. If you are married, you will need written, notarized spousal consent if you want a beneficiary other than your spouse for either plan.
