| Continuous monitoring
Our Manager Monitoring Group regularly tracks our sub-advisors' activities to
ensure they remain within established guidelines. We also stay in close contact
with each sub-advisor to continuously assess whether the portfolio reflects the
manager's outlook.
Early warnings
Because we manage managers so closely, we can identify potential problems early—and
address them immediately. If our analysts ever become concerned about any aspect
of a fund's management, we increase our scrutiny. Potential red flags for us go
beyond disappointing performance. We also watch for style inconsistency and changes
at the firm.
Seamless process
Although we don't actively seek to change managers, we won't passively avoid the
process if warranted. We insist that each fund carry out its investment policy
in an efficient, consistent and systematic manner. If we do need to replace a
sub-advisor, our process assures a seamless transition - one that is transparent
to our investors. |
